Pay it Forward: the Software Edition

Hey guys,

just a question before we descend into (pre?)/production/post-production:

I have an embarrassing Adobe question -

I've previously only made my line drawings pretty in InDesign, but now I want to use Photoshop. Though won't that change the line drawings from vectors into pixels? I just tested it out by importing a PDF into Photoshop, then updating the older file in InDesign - but now the image looks more pixellated, even after I have 'Display' set to 'High Performance'.

Please someone help me!

And since I feel bad badgering you with a question, here is a post-production technique I've found handy:

1. Export 3D model as 2D graphic.

2. Print out and trace over.

3. Scan the trace in, then print out on watercolour paper (needs to be thin enough)

4. Paint the line-drawing with watercolour then scan back in.

5. Photoshop: Dodge / Burn.

6. Often overlaying your watercolour with the original 2D graphic gives a great depth and texture.

Keep your linework as a vector
In Indesign copy the image PDF and 'paste it in place' Then, take one instance of the image and edit in photoshop (right click). In photoshop save as a different file name ie, blahblah-Rendering.psd In Indesign relink one of the images to the new file name. Bring the original image (the line drawing) to the front (display order - right click) Now just work in photoshop on the new file name and when you are done save it with the background (the linework) off A
thanks a-man! i really appreciate it.

can't believe i never knew that...
