I just walked through the city. People were everywhere. A different public space has become this past year. I was struck with such a sense that so many of your group projects are grossly disconnected from the reality of the street. Have you been there lately? Perhaps the most radical thing for architecture today is the intensity of reality, a hyper-focussed awareness of the everyday and a functional beautiful pragmatism to the tedium of the expected cacophony which is already normal. Maybe architecture should turn to the boring?

Dear students, Tim and I are reflecting on your progress this week. We're excited with the ideas but not the progress. Some RIGOR: IN ADDITION to what we spoke about tonight can each of you please bring three different books or journals and identify 1 chapter or journal paper from each relevant to your individual project. You should also bring a significant set of precedents as well as scale drawings of your spatial ideas. Your briefs seem to now be getting very clear. As usual we will be focussing Tuesday on group vision, but will have some time to graze individual progress. We are getting very interested in how the group and individual projects are already interacting. xo A+T

Pretty crazy stuff - takes a while to load, but it's worth the wait to see this.
Food for thought.
